The Aboriginal Aquaculture Association is a relatively new organization which already enjoys wide spread support among First Nations, industry and all levels of government. It was established by the needs of First Nations to embark on a path of economic development and self-sufficiency, leading to increased community capacity and reduced dependency on social programs.

The leaders of the Association believe that aquaculture can provide meaningful employment and investment opportunities for coastal First Nations in their home communities. Aquaculture fits well with the historical life style of many First Nations, and when done right, aquaculture can be done in a manner that respects First Nation values and needs.

The Aboriginal Aquaculture Association believes in prudent fiscal management, and we will strive to provide cost-effective services to our membership. We will offer services like training, marketing assistance and environmental monitoring programs in partnership with industry and governments. We will also be a source of reliable and factual information about all aspects of aquaculture in B.C. (Canada).
